Landmark Moment as Social Media Week 2013 is held in the West African Capital City Lagos, Nigeria
New York, NY January 2013: Claudine Moore, award-winning founder of C Moore Media, International Public Relations has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the first Social Media Week hosted by an African City. The landmark event, held in Lagos, Nigeria from February 18-22, 2013, will take on the inclusive global theme: Open & Connected.
Social Media Week is a global event exploring the social, cultural and economic impact of social media, and attracts thousands of attendees worldwide. The objective of the weeklong event, is to help people and organizations connect through collaboration, learning and the sharing of ideas and information. In Social Media Week’s four-year history, events have been held in major cities across Europe, America, Asia and South America. The 2013 event will represent the first time that Social Media Week will take place in Africa.
“The International Monetary Fund revealed that seven of the ten fastest growing economies in the world are African nations, and many industries, governmental organizations and businesses are positioning for growth and change” said Claudine Moore, Founder of C Moore Media, International Public Relations. “The need for communication, marketing and social media to facilitate and aid this growth and change is essential. Africa has a large, diverse and rapidly growing population, and can no longer be overlooked as a hub of innovation and rapid change. The city of Lagos, the seventh fastest growing city in the world with a population of just under 21 million people, and largely considered the epicenter of business, art and technology on the continent, is well positioned as the African city to host this landmark inaugural event on the continent.

Social Media Week Lagos, will deliver a weeklong schedule of activities that will provide Lagos citizens, international attendees and those joining the event globally via live web streams with workshops; keynotes from national and international thought leaders; panel discussions and networking events. The objective of these activities will be to provide attendees with knowledge and tools enabling them to incorporate and leverage social media as part of the positive transformation of industries, organizations and communities in Nigeria and across the continent.
