Based in New York, Sital Patel is a reporter at MarketWatch, covering Wall Street and financial news. Prior to joining Market Watch, Sital was a producer, reporter and researcher for Fox Business Network where she covered a broad range of financial stories including earnings, stock market news and politics.

Sital graduated Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and while in school, she pursued the finer points of storytelling, as reporter for WCAX-TV in Burlington, Vermont and a writer for CBS MarketWatch.com. Patel has covered a range of issues from breaking news; D.C. sniper shootings, to long-term investigations; Anthrax to policy stories; Clean Water Act and SUV safety.

Previously, Sital lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she worked as an anchor and reporter for a weekend South Asian community-based show. In addition, she freelanced as a writer at the San Jose Mercury News, India West, India Focus Magazine and India Post.

Honorable Abike Dabiri (Nigeria, West Africa)

Member of the Nigerian House of Representatives & Chairman Nigerian Diaspora Affairs Committee

The Honorable (Hon.) Abike Dabiri is an award-winning third time member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, and currently serves as the Chairman Diaspora Affairs the only Diaspora government organization in Africa.

In the Nigerian House of Representatives she championed the Freedom Of Information Bill, which was subsequently signed into law in Nigeria. She has also championed the Nigeria Diaspora Commission Bill, and a bill to promote the Advancement of Nigerian Women and Girls.

Abike began her career with the Nigerian Television Authority, where she became a highly respected veteran broadcaster, whose heart-warming stories commanded the attention of Nigerians all over the world. She subsequently became popularly known as the “Mother Teresa of the Tube”.

In her spare time, Abike is committed to empowering women and children all over Nigeria through the Abike Dabiri-Erewa Foundation.

January Makamba (Tanzania, East Africa)

Deputy Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Government of Tanzania

January Makamba is the current Deputy Minister for Communication Science and Technology for the Government of Tanzania and Member of Parliament for Bumbuli constituency. Prior to these appointments, he served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals. He is also the founding director of the Bumbuli Development Corporation, and previously worked as a senior aide to Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete for several years. 

Educated in the US, January has experience working in several African countries as well as experience as a Assistant Camp Manager in the Burundian refugee camps in Kigoma, Tanzania, overseeing the welfare of 120,000 Burundi refugees.

January was recently recognized as one of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders and one of Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s Leadership Fellows, and he is dedicated to the economic development of Tanzania and Africa as a whole.

Eugene Reineke (US)

Former US Chief Operational Officer of Hill&Knowlton Strategies and Founder of Hawthorne Group.

Eugene (Gene) Reineke is a senior executive with 30 years of experience in developing and positioning communication and public policy objectives, in both the private and public sectors for c-suite executives and senior government officials. He has consulted for Fortune 500 companies focusing on crisis and issues management, reputation protection as well as community and government relations.

Gene spent 18 years working in Illinois state government in the administrations of former Governors James R. Thompson and Jim Edgar. He served in a variety of positions including as a member of the cabinet and as Chief of Staff to the Governor.

While at Hill & Knowlton Strategies, Gene worked ‘on site’ with AIG during the US 2008/2009 economic implosion, as well as becoming the interim Chief Communications Officer for Cigna during the 2009/2010 lead up to the passage of the US Affordable Care Act.

Gene currently runs an independent consultancy based in Chicago.

Originally from the Caribbean island of Dominica, Dr. Thomson Fontaine is a seasoned economist having worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC for several years.

He advised governments in the area of economic policy in addition to providing training and technical assistance to central banks and government officials in the Caribbean, Africa and Middle East.

Former President of the Caribbean Association of World Bank IMF Staff (CAWI), Dr Fontaine was also the Deputy Division Chief in Dominica’s Central Statistical office, and lectured at a number of institutions including the prestigious University of the West Indies.

Dr. Fontaine is currently a global consultant providing economic policy advice to governments and private sector businesses across the globe. He is passionate about the economic development of Dominica and the Caribbean, Dr. Fontaine is the founder and editor of TheDominican.net, an influential online news magazine.
