Claudine won the award due to her outstanding leadership and proven ongoing achievements in reshaping Africa’s narrative, and being a champion of global diversity by pushing the visibility of African businesses in global media and promoting the positive narrative for Africa and African business in the diaspora. New Light on the Horizon for African Female-led Startups
One thing African startup founders will tell you is, launching a startup here is a lot more difficult compared to other better-developed ecosystems across the world. When you’re in a space where established startups are struggling to scale, you can imagine what it’ll be like for early-stage startups, not to talk of the considerably marginalised female-led ones.

New York-based public relations (PR) company C. Moore Media has launched the second edition of The Future is Female Mentorship Programme, a PR and communications mentorship programme dedicated to the business development needs of African tech female founders.
The Future is Female Mentorship Programme aims to provide the underserved market of African female founders of early-stage startups with the PR and communications insights, knowledge, and skills needed to gain visibility and grow their business.
Aimed at African women based on the continent or in the diaspora, launching or growing a tech business for African markets or serving Africans in the diaspora, the programme selected 12 startups for its inaugural edition last year, and has now opened applications for round two. Read More

Reaching Financial Equality – a Call to Action – #IWD2021
On International Women’s Day 2021, Claudine Moore moderated a high-level event themed: Reaching Financial Equality – a Call to Action. Opening remarks were provided by H. M, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, The United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development. Other panelists included the Ministers of Finance for Mexico and Indonesia, Hon. Arturo Herrera and H. E Sri Mulyani Indrawati and the Governor of Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Kwamina Addison.
The event was hosted by Women’s World Banking, the World Bank, the Better Than Cash Alliance, and the United Nations Capital Development Fund and discussed the importance of prioritizing digital financial inclusion for women.
The panelists committed to action points listed in the G20 report on Advancing Women’s Digital Financial Inclusion, endorsed by all G20 Finance Ministers. These include the outlaw of financial discrimination against women, the design of appropriate and affordable financial products for women, and an end to the gender digital divide, amongst other calls to action.

The history of the Human Development approach has shown that the world needs bold ideas and ambitious solutions to bring humanity forward. Thirty years on, this dialogue delved into what it takes to unlock a future of human development for all.
In this dialogue, the UNDP invited experts shared creative thinking and concrete initiatives to address the issues of climate change, demographic shifts, urbanization, the emergence of digital technologies and inequalities. These are the biggest challenges of our time and are the result of human activity, and as such, they can be shaped by human decisions and policy choices.
